The city contracts with Keck & Wood, a private firm, to provide engineering services as needed. Engineering activities include:
- Approving and inspecting utility permits and private development, as well as providing assistance to other departments
- Providing data and assistance with various projects
- Reviewing private development plans for compliance with ordinances and issuance of development permits
- Providing GIS and mapping services
- Assistance with traffic and transportation related issues and projects
- Representation on regional boards and committees concerning transportation, water, infrastructure and others
